Icons by Orthodox Toys
In North America, it can be difficult to purchase an Orthodox icon. That’s why we decided to make icons more accessible to everyone who wishes to bring the beauty and spiritual depth of Orthodox iconography into their lives. We are happy to ship our icons worldwide, ensuring that faithful Christians everywhere can enjoy these treasures. Another reason we wanted to make icons is to use them as an educational tool. All our icons come with an educational book to help you learn more about their meaning and significance.
About the Iliinskaya Icon Painting Workshop
All our icons are originally painted by the renowned Iliinskaya Icon Painting Workshop, based in Moscow, Russia, and led by Ekaterina Iliinskaya. For over 20 years, this workshop has been dedicated to reviving and preserving the ancient traditions of Orthodox Christian art. The team includes skilled artisans such as gilders, miniaturists, calligraphers, painters, iconographers, jewelers, and fresco specialists. Each icon is crafted with great care and high craftsmanship, reflecting both spiritual and artistic value. Icons produced by the Iliinskaya Workshop are known for their unique beauty and adherence to traditional methods.
How We Make Our Icons
All of our icons are hand-painted by the renowned Iliinskaya Icon Painting Workshop in Moscow and reprinted with their permission. We ensure each icon is both beautiful and faithful to Orthodox Christian traditions:
- Design: Carefully created by Iliinskaya Icon Painting Workshop to match Orthodox Christian canons and traditions.
- Materials: We use Red Western Cedar for the base of our icons. Icons are printed on a special matte gold surface, a high-quality metallic surface with an adhesive coating.
- Printing: Icons are printed in full color using Greenguard Gold certified inks, which are long-lasting, weatherproof, and environmentally friendly. These inks produce rich and consistent colors that highlight every detail.
- Mounting: The matte gold surface is then mounted onto the wooden board.
- Blessing: For practical reasons, we do not bless the icons before shipping. We encourage customers to take their icons to their priest for blessing.
Our Icon Collection
Our icons are designed to be both spiritual and educational. They include:
- Icons of the Holy Theotokos: Beautiful icons depicting the Mother of God, often paired with the Lord Jesus Christ.

✨ Discover the beauty of the Holy Eucharist and the mission of the Apostles with this special educational icon set. Inspired by Viktor Vasnetsov’s renowned painting The Eucharist (1911), this triptych icon is more than a piece of art—it’s a tool to help families and children connect with the deep meaning of the Orthodox Liturgy. The icon was hand-painted by the Icon-painting workshop of Ekaterina Ilyinskaya in Moscow, Russia, and reprinted with their permission.
✨ Why Was This Created? This educational set was created to address a challenge many Orthodox families face: helping children and teens engage with the Liturgy and understand its meaning. When our family moved to North America, we noticed that many young people struggled to connect during services, especially when language or tradition felt distant. This inspired us to create tools that could help bridge this gap and bring the beauty of Orthodox worship to life for everyone—newcomers, catechumens, and lifelong faithful.
